All around Alba Adriatica

The small village of Santo Stefano, within the national park, was completely abandoned during the 1980s and was then bought by an entrepreneur and transformed into a widespread hotel. The redevelopment of the town has given rise to a social and economic recovery of the area. The village is now a real jewel of Abruzzo culture, linked to sheep farming and local products, such as the typical lentils and hand-spun sheep's wool socks as per tradition. A beautiful walk to do in summer is the one towards Rocca Calascio; the country includes the ruins of various fortresses from which you can admire a view at an altitude of 1500 km.

A few kilometers from Alba Adriatica you can visit the splendid Salinello waterfalls, the river that flows into our coast. Going up the river that winds its way into the mountains is a little known but rewarding experience. After the walk through the woods, you can easily reach Civitella del Tronto by car, the white village, considered one of the most beautiful in Italy, famous for its Bourbon fortress that rises steeply above a rocky travertine cliff. It is possible to visit the fortress and book guided tours. Just below the fortress is the well-known Crag of Civitella del Tronto, a popular destination for the most experienced climbers.

For lovers of cycling and rocky coasts, we recommend a day along the new cycle-pedestrian Via Verde. A 50 km route that starts from Ortona and enters the pine forests, crossing the old train route.
